Students Study River Ecology
|
Redford, Michigan - Ninth grade students from Chandler Park Academy, a charter school, study the ecology of the Rouge River, which flows through many suburban Detroit communities before emptying into the Detroit River. They were participating in the annual Rouge Education Project in which students from dozens of schools monitor biological, chemical, and physical characteristics of the river. Teacher Chris Trepanowski explains various characteristics of the river. He is holding an orange that students floated down the river to judge the speed of the current.
