Teacher Scoops Water from River for Students to Study

Redford, Michigan - Teacher Chris Trepanowski scoops water from the Rouge River for his students to study. The ninth grade studentsfrom Chandler Park Academy, a charter school, were studying the ecology of the Rouge River, which flows through many suburban Detroit communities before emptying into the Detroit River. They were participating in the annual Rouge Education Project in which students from dozens of schools monitor biological, chemical, and physical characteristics of the river.
