|
Detroit, Michigan - Michigan State Representative Rashida Tlaib speaks to community activists in southwest Detroit after they tore down a fence blocking access to part of Riverside Park. The fence was erected after 9-11 by the billionnaire owner of the Ambassador Bridge, which links the United States and Canada, wiping out basketball courts and a softball field. Residents turned to direct action after the bridge company ignored court orders to remove the fence. Tlaib is the Muslim daughter of Palestinian immigrants. She represents the a largely Hispanic district.
