Candlelight Vigil for American Peace Activist Killed by Israeli Bulldozer
|
Ann Arbor, Michigan - University of Michigan students hold a candlelight vigil for Rachel Corrie, 23, of Olympia, Washington, who was killed as she tried to prevent an Israeli army bulldozer from destroying the home of a Palestinian doctor. Corrie was a member of the International Solidarity Movement, a group of Palestinians and international activists who use nonviolent direct action against the Israeli occupation. The Israeli Defense Forces called Corrie's death a "regrettable accident." Her companions called it deliberate murder by the bulldozer operator who could see her and elected not to stop.
