Residue of Tar Sands Oil Refining at Detroit Riverfront

Detroit, Michigan - Dust from petcoke lines the streets around a riverfront facility where the residue of tar sands oil refining is stored. Environmentalists and residents of southwest Detroit oppose the dumping of petroleum coke because they fear it will pollute the air and water. Tar sands oil is processed at the nearby Marathon Petroleum refinery. The residue is handed off to Koch Carbon, a company controlled by Charles and David Koch.
