Florida Farmworkers Press Wendy's to Increase Wages for Tomato Pickers
|
Dublin, Ohio - Members of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers and their supporters march to the headquarters of the fast food chain Wendy's, asking the company to pay a penny a pound more for the Florida tomatoes it buys. The additional penny would go to improve wages for Florida farmworkers. Other corporate buyers have agreed, including McDonald's, Whole Foods, Wal-Mart, Burger King, and Subway. In a skit during the rally, Wendy refuses to pay farmworkers an extra penny for their tomatoes.
