Topeka, Kansas - The Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site. The site tells the story of the fight for school desegregation. It is housed in Monroe Elementary School, which was one of the segregated schools for African-Americans in Topeka. On display is one of the dolls that psychologists Kenneth and Mamie Clark used in the 1940s to study children's attitudes about race; their work contributed to the Court's ruling that segregated schools were unconstitutional. (The doll's face has been discolored by exposure to sunlight.)
