|
River Rouge, Michigan - Residents of neighborhoods surrounding Detroit's Marathon Petroleum refinery speak at a state Department of Environmental Quality public hearing, opposing a proposal to allow the refinery to discharge higher quantities of sulfur dioxide and other pollutants. Marathon says it needs the change to be able to produce lower-sulfur gasoline. Speaking to DEQ hearing officers, Emma Lockridge displays a mask she wears to help with breathing in her neighborhood.
