Community Rallies To Save Kronk Recreation Center

Detroit, Michigan - Retired boxer Thomas "Hit Man" Hearns joins residents of a west side Detroit neighborhood in a rally to save the legendary Kronk recreation center from being closed. The city of Detroit plans to close Kronk and eight other recreation centers to help reduce a $186 million budget deficit. Kronk's boxing program for children age 8 and up has produced champions such as such as Hearns, Hilmer Kenty, Milton McCrory, Jimmy Paul, and Duane Thomas.
