Oracle, Arizona - An aquaponics display at Biosphere 2. Aquaponics combines raising fish and plants in a symbiotic environment with recirculating water. Aquaponics saves water and grows plants more quickly. People lived in the sealed Biosphere 2 for as long as two years in the early 90s as an experiment in developing self-contained environments for space travel. Research on climate change is now done at the facility, which is owned by the University of Arizona.
