Washington Flood Control Barrier

Washington, DC - A flood control barrier on the National Mall. The barrier will protect downtown Washington from flood waters coming from the Potomac River and the Tidal Basin in the event of a "100-year flood." In the event of a flood, barriers would be inserted into the slot in the wall and another on the other side of 17th Street.
