International Day of Native Languages

Oaxaca, Oaxaca, Mexico - Members of indigenous communities throughout the state of Oaxaca celebrated the Día Internacional de la Lengua Materna, or the International Day of Native Languages. The day is dedicated to the protection of native languages around the world. A Mixtec man demonstrated basket-making techniques. The Mixtecs are one of the largest indigenous groups in Oaxaca.
