Bonnet Carré Spillway

Norco, Louisiana - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers opened the Bonnet Carré Spillway to protect New Orleans from Mississippi River flooding. The spillway can divert flood water from the Mississippi, reducing water levels at New Orleans. A flooded road below the spillway is normally open to traffic when the spillway is closed.
