Owens Lake

Keeler, California - Owens Lake dried up in the early 20th century after the city of Los Angeles purchased water rights in the area and diverted the water into the Los Angeles Aqueduct. Following recent court decisions, Los Angeles has returned enough water to the lake to dampen the surface and hold down dust.
