|
Granada, Colorado USA - 18 March 2022 - The World War II Amache Japanese internment camp in southeast Colorado became part of the National Park Service, as President Joe Biden signed a law making Amache a National Historic Site. More than 7,000 Japanese and Japanese-Americans were held at the site, one of 10 internment camps in the American west. A monument in the camp's cemetery honors the 31 Japanese-Americans from the camp who volunteered for service and gave their lives during the war.
