Union Protests City Layoffs as Detroit Mayor Delivers State of the City Address

Detroit, Michigan - Members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees union picket outside as Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick delivers his annual State of the City address. The union was protesting layoffs and program cuts in the mayor's proposed budget. June Nickleberry, president of AFSCME Local 214, and her son Nathan, 8, joined the protest.
