Students Support Tolerance of Gays and Lesbians
|
Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan - Members of the cast and crew of the play "The Laramie Project" joined hundreds of students from Grosse Pointe South High School and members of the community who protested the anti-gay message of members of the Westboro (Kansas) Baptist Church. The church members picketed the school because of the play, which is about the 1998 torture and beating death of Matt Shepard, an openly gay college student, in Laramie, Wyoming. Westboro church members believe God is punishing America because of its tolerance of homosexuality.
