Religious Activists Stage Civil Disobedience Against Iraq War
|
Detroit, Michigan - Several hundred persons from various religious groups marched from Central United Methodist Church to the Federal Courthouse, where read an "indictment" charging the Bush administration with "crimes against peace." Then they blocked entrances to the courthouse in a protest against war with Iraq. Twenty-seven were arrested. Lying on the steps of the courthouse under the boots of a Federal Protective Service officer are Bill Hickey, a member of Pax Christi (left), and Karen Donahue of the Sisters of Mercy.
