Neutrino Dector at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab)
|
Batavia, Illinois - The Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab), where scientists conduct basic research into the smallest building blocks of matter. In the underground MINOS cavern, an intense bean of neutrinos travels 450 miles through the earth to the Soudan mine in northern Minnesota. Scientists compare the results from neutrino detectors in both locations. Engineering physicist Bill Lee exanubes a new neutrino detector for the NOvA experiment.
