Workers Battle Oil Spill in Great Lakes Basin
|
Trenton, Michigan - Workers place an oil control boom on the Detroit River to keep an oil spill off the shoreline at Elizabeth Park in Trenton, Michigan. The oil spill, estimated at tens of thousands of gallons, is the largest in the Great Lakes basin in over a decade. Coast Guard officials think the oil may have been intentionally dumped into a storm drain. The oil flowed into the Rouge River, and then into the Detroit River and Lake Erie.
