Volunteers Paint Mural as They Turn an Illegal Dumping Site Into a Mini Nature Park
|
Detroit, Michigan - Children and young people from southwest Detroit paint a mural on a wall on a vacant lot by the Rouge River. The wall used to collect graffiti and the lot was a site of illegal dumping. The volunteers plan to turn the area into a mini nature park. The volunteer effort was organized by a local environmental group, Southwest Detroit Environmental Vision. Billie Hickey (left), the organizer of the event, helps a boy mix the right shade of blue.
