Group Places Crosses Where Migrants Died in Arizona Desert
|
Tucson, Arizona - Members of the Tucson Samaritans place crosses in the desert at the places where the remains of migrants were found. Hundreds of migrants from Mexico and Central America have perished in recent years as they tried to evade U.S. Border Patrol checkpoints. More than 500 crosses planted in Arizona by the Samaritans and other groups now mark the spots where they died. Mary Toethals carries a cross to mark the spot where an unidentified migrant died.
