| Image Description: | Chicago, Illinois - Ziff Sistrunk pauses by a cross honoring his mother, who was a homicide victim in 1980. Sistrunk has lost seven family members to violence since 1972. Other crosses on this vacant lot in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood represent those killed by guns in the city during the first three months of 2018. Since 2016, retired carpenter Greg Zanis has made wooden crosses to remember each homicide victim. Chicago recorded 781 murders in 2016 and 664 in 2017. |
